What is an expandable module?
An expandable module — also called an expandable container or expandable home — is a prefabricated unit that travels closed on a truck or container and deploys at the destination, multiplying its interior surface. The double lateral wing mechanism allows a 20ft expandable module transported at 3 meters wide to become a home of nearly 6 meters wide once deployed. Aluminum openings with thermal break, factory-prefabricated electrical and plumbing installations.
We have three sizes: the compact 10ft with 1 bedroom and bathroom; the 20ft expandable module — the most requested — with 2 bedrooms, kitchen and bathroom, equivalent to a 2-bedroom container home; and the 40ft, ideal as a family home or expanded camp with 3 bedrooms. All come with CE / ISO 9001 / SGS certifications and 15 to 20 years of service life.

- How long does it take to install an expandable module?
- The 10ft module can be deployed in less than 30 minutes with 2 people. The 20ft and 40ft require between 60 and 90 minutes including leveling and service connections. All come with factory-prefabricated electrical and sanitary installations, eliminating the need for civil works.
- What is the difference between a foldable and an expandable module?
- The foldable module compacts for transport and deploys like a standard prefabricated home. The expandable module has lateral wings that extend to double or triple the interior surface. The 20ft closed occupies the space of a standard container, but deployed offers nearly 37 m² of habitable space. Expandables are ideal when more surface area is needed with minimal transport footprint.
- Are they suitable for areas with extreme climatic conditions?
- Yes. Expandable modules have aluminum openings with thermal break (TB), high-insulation panels and hermetic perimeter sealing. They are designed to operate in temperature ranges of -20°C to +45°C, making them suitable for the Argentine puna, mountainous areas of San Juan and Mendoza, and Patagonia.
- How many units fit in an import container?
- The 20ft model: 2 units per 40HQ container. The 40ft model: 1 unit per 40HQ container. The 10ft model: consult depending on specific configuration. These ratios make import logistics highly efficient compared to traditional construction.
- Can they be used as permanent housing or only for camps?
- Expandable modules are designed for both temporary and permanent use. The 20ft model with 2 bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen is functionally equivalent to a 2-bedroom container home. They are used in mining and oil & gas camps, but also as rural housing, tourist cabins and permanent field offices. The galvanized steel structure guarantees 15 to 20 years of service life.
